Book Launch of My Life!

It's 3:30 in the morning (so please excuse any typos). I've had a lot of drinks. There was some crazy dancng to U2. My first book launch ever is over. The last guests have just left my living room. It was one of the best nights of my life. Less painful than the birth of Oskar.

My Prairie Bridesmaid launch at McNally Robinson Booksellers in Winnipeg was amazing. It's humbling that that many people would come out to hear me speak and read. It's a surreal experience to sign books, to have of people wait in line to have books signed.

Thank you. Thank you. More tomorrow when I'm sober enough to reflect on the experience!

Hey Daria!
What an awesome evening, and we had the "money" table at McNally's too. We were so delighted and proud to be there with you as our dear neighbour and friend launched her book. I've been reading it this weekend, and can barely put it down... you are a gifted, terrific writer. I've been reading your words while overlooking the fields of rural Manitoba where many of the folk in the song "Ukrainians" worked their hearts out to eke out a hard living; the same ones we passed with such ease in the car, listening to the soundtrack.
What an amazing read, conjuring up all sorts of emotions. Congrats again... it was so wonderful to see you recognized by peers, friends, and family. Cheers! You deserve every wonderful moment!

ps: Your story about the liver donation you were prepped to make should prompt everyone to reach into their wallet/purse and check to see they've signed the organ donation form attached to their driver's licences.

My dear

I was so bummed that I couldn't make the launch. The commute from Ottawa was a tad long. My darling mommy mailed the book that you signed pour mo. Thank-you! I've already lent me other copy (the one I bought here in O-town) to my neighbour and I have all my Uke cousins buying it too. It's a hit! A smashing success!

So sorry I missed it. Must have been magical, I imagine. I just finished The Flying Troutmans and am moving on to your novel next.
